COAST Zooplankton Data Inventory:
PI(s): Peterson
Data Description and Status:
-
360 total net samples were collected from 24 May to 13 June and 7 - 25 August, 2001.
These were in the form of 1/2m vertical and 1m MOCNESS net tows. There were 33 total
tows in June (22 vertical, 11 MOCNESS) and 53 total in August (35 vertical, 18 MOCNESS).
The difference in the number of vertical tows between the two months can be attributed
to the fact that a vertical tow was done after every MOCNESS tow in August, not in June.
All tows took place on Line 2 (Cascade Head) and Line 6 (Cape Perpetua) for both
cruises. In August, six stations were sampled south of Heceta bank, named HBO
(Heceta Bank Overflow).
-
To date, all of the vertical tows for Line 2 and Line 6 have been counted. MOCNESS
tows have been counted from the August cruise only. They include: CH-5 (Day and Night
tows), CP-8 (Day and Night tows), HBO-5, and HBO-6. All tows have been entered into
our database and data is available upon request (jesse.lamb@noaa.gov).
-
Currently counting August MOCNESS tows CH-3 and CH-7 in order to have a whole line
of MOCNESS data complete.
